Cute Moments

So.... it has been a little while since my last blog, I guess things are getting a little busier around our house. Jude is now two months old and tomorrow we will go to the doctor to find out how big he is. I can tell he is much bigger and growing a little too fast. With Annabel I looked forward to each new stage so much that I may have even pushed them along before she was ready... but with Jude I already know what the next stage is and I just want to enjoy these baby days. They are going by too fast already.

Our little princess turns 3 on March 3rd... whoa!! I can't believe it. She is getting so big (although still Not potty trained). She has been such a great helper with Jude and so far has shown no signs of jealousy. She does things like put Jude's pacifier in his mouth when it comes out and when his diaper needs changing she will go into his room and get a diaper and a wipe and bring them to me to change him. It is so sweet. At church when other kids come up to check Jude out she always has to go over and very proudly exclaim "that is my bruder."

The other day we had all of Annabel's stuffed animals lined accross her bed and she started talking to them about Jesus. All I could really understand was "blah blah...Jesus...blah blah blah...disciples...blah blah...loves you," I don't really know what she was teaching them, but I know it was cute and of course very spiritual :)

Another day I was telling her how cute she was and I said, "Annabel, do you know how cute you are?" she said yes and I asked her how she knew... she said "the Bible tells me so." I cracked up and then called David tell him right away. I love her so much and just can't believe she is so big.

Jude is still not talking... but he smiles an aweful lot, and that smile will melt your heart! (well maybe not yours, but mine for sure!)

Update

Jude went to the doctor today and weighs 11 and 1/2 pounds and is 22.5 inches long. He rolled over for the first time yesterday and is all around getting more and more alert.
Annabel is a great big sister and Jude LOVES her. He stares at her whenever she is in the room. He just watches everything she does. The thing is I don't think he can actually see her yet, so I am not sure why he is so intent on her. No matter what the reason it is super cute.

Today was also a big day in the life of Annabel (and me for that matter) because Annabel pooped in her potty and it was the first time she has done it without me having to ask. I walked into the living room and she was sitting on one of her three potties. When she stood up I saw that she had actually pooped. I could not believe it! This may not seem like a big deal...but for me it is the simple things in life that really make me smile (I really don't know how to say that without sounding so cheesy...oh well.

My Husband

The Family Man

David and I back in the day...a week before we got married

David and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary this past weekend and I think five years is a great time for reflection.

I don't want to be someone who goes on and on about how wonderful my life is (because I have my challenges I swear), but in this instance I feel I definitely need to pay tribute to my most wonderful, adoring and talented husband. I cannot imagine how I got so lucky to be the girl who ended up with David, but I did. I know he is super goofy and a lot of people joke about feeling sorry for me because he sometimes goes a little over the line…but I love it. I am always laughing and for whatever reason I find his odd sense of humor to be simply hilarious.

Not only is he super funny and entertaining, I trust him totally and completely. When you use the word trust usually you think about faithfulness, but it goes so much farther. David is the kind of man I can trust with every emotion and thought…even the craziest ones. He is supportive of me in everything and even more he is always kind. The past nine months David has been my rock (along with my Savior, Jesus Christ). I cannot imagine having a more supportive husband. He goes above and beyond and always makes me feel like my feelings are the most important to him. He respects my opinion and always makes me feel smart, beautiful and like the best mother around.

I love you David and think you are one of God's finest! I pray for your ministry and the plans God has for our lives. You are the best husband and father and I thank God everyday for the blessing of being your wife. I love you!

Happy New Year

Now that Jude is two weeks old, and I am through with the daily crying spells, I wanted to post a little update. Jude is now 8 pounds and 15 ounces (as of his two week appointment). The doctor said he is a very healthy little boy.

The labor and delivery of Jude was amazing. Mainly because I didn't feel anything. Seriously. They now can put in the epidurals right when you come to the hospital and then give you the medication when you are ready...so when the pain really starts in you just get the medicine injected and the rest is already done. So, needless to say, I opted for that and it was great. I got the pitocin and 5 hours and 4 pushes later was holding my little boy. It was great. I feel a little guilty...aren't I supposed to have some pain? Oh well....

We were in the hospital a little over 24 hours and we got to come home for christmas...that was great. Annabel had a blast and got way too much stuff. I think she got a little spoiled because we were worried about how she would react to Jude...but she has been great. Right now she is patting his head while watching Imagination Movers. She is very encouraging and worries when he gets too upset.

Breat feeding...we won't talk about that too much. He is doing great...I am ready for my body to feel a little more normal, but I know it will get easier.

Well, here are a few pics of the last few weeks.

Happy New Year to Everyone!

Nerves

OK. I'm not the one birthing a baby in 8 hours. I acknowledge that. I am aware of and sensitive to my wife's condition and what lies in store for her over the next couple of days months. I know that her body is preparing to encounter an unbelievable degree of stress and transition. HOWEVER……I know that I am more nervous than her. I don’t say that based on empirical observation (although she does appear to be cool, calm, and collected). I don’t say that based on anything she has told me. I say that because there is no way anyone, anywhere is more nervous than me right now.

“David, chill out.” “This isn’t about you.” “You already have one child.” “Millions of women do this every day.”

Shut up.

Am I nervous about the labor and delivery process? Sure. Am I nervous about Jude being ok and not having a third arm or anything crazy like that? Sure. Am I nervous about Nicole walking away unscathed? Naturally.

So what is it that has my stomach rolling and my fingers shaking with anxiety?

My little guy (Jude the dude) is going to go through the most painful imaginable procedure that any man could imagine sometime in the next 72 hours: circumcision. Typing that word sent shivers up my….spine. I feel his pain. I don’t know if I’m going to be able to stand by and watch as some stranger brings the torturous scalpel to bear on my boy’s body. I will, however, endure. I will distract myself with rubbing Nicole’s feet and teaching Annabel the bridge to “Hey Jude” by The Beatles so she can sing him the whole song when he gets home (she has 70% of it memorized).

But boy, oh boy; what a world of hurt.

If you read this tonight, pray for Nicole. Pray for Jude. Me? Ah, I’ll be fine. Annabel and I will just sit in a corner and marvel at the glorious miracle that is about to take place in the life of our family.
